Stove-Top Prosciutto and Cheese Lasagna Delight
Ingredients
- 8 lasagna noodles
- 1 cup shredded cheese (such as mozzarella or a cheese blend of your choice)
- 6 slices prosciutto, chopped
- 2 cups tomato sauce
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions
1. Prep the Noodles:
- Boil a large pot of water on the stove over medium-high heat. Add a pinch of salt and the lasagna noodles. Cook them for 8-10 minutes until they’re al dente. Drain the noodles and set them aside.
2. Prepare the Sauce:
- In a large skillet, add 1 tablespoon of olive oil and heat over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, being careful not to let it burn.
- Pour in the tomato sauce, stirring well to combine with the garlic. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Let it simmer for about 5 minutes to blend the flavors.
3. Assemble the Lasagna Layers:
- Spread a thin layer of tomato sauce on the bottom of the skillet.
- Place a layer of lasagna noodles over the sauce. It's okay if they overlap slightly.
- Layer the chopped prosciutto and a generous sprinkle of cheese over the noodles.
- Repeat the layers: noodles, sauce, prosciutto, and cheese until all ingredients are used, finishing with a cheese layer on top.
4. Cook on the Stove:
- Cover the skillet with a lid and let the lasagna cook on low heat for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese has melted and the lasagna is heated through.
5. Garnish and Serve:
- Remove from heat. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired. Allow the lasagna to rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
