Stove-Top Seared Tuna Medley with Avocado and White Bean Salad
Ingredients
For the Seared Tuna:
- 2 Yellowfin tuna steaks (approximately 4 oz each)
- 2 Albacore tuna steaks (approximately 4 oz each)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
For the Avocado and White Bean Salad:
- 2 avocados, peeled, pitted, and diced
- 1 can (15 oz) white beans, drained and rinsed
- 1/2 cup red onion, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
1. Prepare the Tuna:
- Season both sides of the Yellowfin and Albacore tuna steaks with salt and black pepper.
- Drizzle 1 tablespoon of olive oil into a large skillet and heat over medium-high heat until the oil shimmers.
2. Sear the Tuna:
- Place the tuna steaks in the hot skillet, searing each side for about 2-3 minutes until they develop a golden-brown crust and are slightly pink in the middle.
- Remove the tuna from the skillet and let it rest for a few minutes.
3. Prepare the Avocado and White Bean Salad:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the diced avocado, white beans, and finely chopped red onion.
- Add 2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice and 1 tablespoon of olive oil to the mixture.
- Season with 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, then gently toss all ingredients to combine.
- Sprinkle the chopped fresh parsley over the salad and gently fold it in.
4. Assemble and Serve:
- Slice the rested tuna steaks into thin, even pieces and arrange them on a serving platter.
- Serve the seared tuna alongside the avocado and white bean salad.
