Stove-Top Vanilla Cream with M&M Candy Crunch
Ingredients
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup M&M candies
Instructions
1. Combine Ingredients
In a medium-sized saucepan, combine 1 cup of heavy cream, 1 cup of whole milk, and 1/2 cup of granulated sugar. Stir the mixture over medium heat until the sugar completely dissolves. This should take about 5 minutes.
2. Infuse Vanilla
Once the sugar has dissolved, reduce the heat to low. Add 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract and 1/4 teaspoon of salt to the mixture. Stir gently to incorporate the flavor.
3. Simmer the Mixture
Continue to cook the mixture on low heat, stirring occasionally, for approximately 10 minutes. Make sure the mixture does not come to a boil to prevent curdling the cream.
4. Candy Crunch Preparation
While the cream is simmering, roughly chop 1/2 cup of M&M candies. You want varied sizes from whole pieces to finer crunches, creating texture contrast.
5. Cool and Combine
Remove the saucepan from the heat. Allow the mixture to cool for about 5 minutes. Stir in the chopped M&M candies, reserving a small portion for garnishing.
6. Serve
Pour the stove-top vanilla cream into dessert bowls or ramekins. Garnish each serving with the reserved M&M pieces.
7. Chill for Best Flavor
For the best flavor and texture, cover and refrigerate the dessert for at least 1 hour before serving.
