Stovetop Brewed Coffee Delight with a Gourmet Twist
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup whole coffee beans
- 4 cups water
- 1 cinnamon stick (optional)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
- 2 tablespoons sugar (optional)
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
1. Grind the Coffee Beans.
Place 1/2 cup of whole coffee beans into a coffee grinder. Grind the beans to a medium-coarse texture similar to sea salt. Set the ground coffee aside.
2. Prepare Water and Flavorings.
In a medium saucepan, combine 4 cups of water, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract (optional), 1 cinnamon stick (optional), 2 tablespoons of sugar (optional), and a pinch of salt. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
3. Brew the Coffee.
Once the water reaches a rolling boil, reduce the heat to low to maintain a gentle simmer. Add the ground coffee to the saucepan. Stir gently to ensure the grounds are evenly distributed.
4. Simmer the Coffee.
Let the coffee mixture simmer for approximately 5 minutes on low heat. Avoid stirring during this time to allow the grounds to settle.
5. Remove from Heat.
After simmering, remove the saucepan from the heat. Allow the brewed coffee to sit for another 3 minutes to let the grounds settle at the bottom.
6. Strain and Serve.
Using a fine mesh strainer or a cloth filter, slowly pour the coffee into a serving pot or individual cups, filtering out the grounds. Serve immediately, plain or with your choice of cream and additional sweeteners.
