Stovetop Sweet and Tangy Barbecue Sauce for Lunch Bliss
Ingredients
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions
1. Prepare the Ingredients: Assemble all your ingredients. Measure out each one to ensure a smooth cooking process.
2. Heat the Olive Oil: In a medium-sized saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat on the stove until it shimmers, approximately PT2M (2 minutes).
3. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a small bowl, mix together the sugar, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
4. Add Ketchup and Vinegar: Carefully pour the ketchup and apple cider vinegar into the saucepan with the heated olive oil, stirring continuously to combine, for about PT1M (1 minute).
5. Incorporate Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the saucepan, stirring constantly until all are well combined. Continue to stir for PT2M (2 minutes).
6. Add Worcestershire Sauce: Stir in the Worcestershire sauce and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
7. Simmer the Sauce: Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer uncovered, allowing the flavors to meld together, for PT15M (15 minutes). Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
8. Adjust Consistency and Seasoning: Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning if necessary. If you prefer a spicier sauce, add a pinch more cayenne pepper.
9. Cool and Serve: Once the sauce has reached your desired consistency, remove it from the heat. Allow it to cool slightly before serving. Serve with your favorite lunch dishes like sandwiches, burgers, or grilled meats.
