Succulent Crock Pot Country-Style Pork Ribs with Marinara and Basil
Ingredients
- 2 1/2 pounds country-style pork ribs
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, roughly chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
Instructions
1. Prepare the Ribs:
Season the country-style pork ribs with salt and freshly ground black pepper, ensuring even coverage on all sides.
2. Layer in Crock Pot:
In a large Crock Pot, place the seasoned pork ribs in a single layer. It's okay if they slightly overlap.
3. Add Marinara Mixture:
Pour the marinara sauce evenly over the pork ribs. Add the water, ensuring it surrounds the ribs without washing off the seasoning.
4. Add Red Pepper Flakes:
Sprinkle the crushed red pepper flakes evenly across the top for a slight kick of heat.
5. Cook:
Set the Crock Pot to low heat. Cover with the lid and allow the ribs to cook for approximately PT8H (8 hours), or until they are tender and falling apart with a fork.
6. Finish with Cheese and Basil:
About 15 minutes before serving, carefully remove the ribs and stir the cooking liquid. Add the grated Parmesan cheese and stir until melted and well combined. Return the ribs to the pot. Sprinkle the chopped fresh basil on top, allowing the flavors to meld as the cheese melts.
7. Serve:
Once the basil is fragrant and slightly wilted, gently serve the pork ribs onto a warm platter with the saucy mixture. Spoon additional sauce over the ribs as desired.
