Succulent Herb-Roasted Turkey Breast
Ingredients
- 1 whole turkey breast (approximately 6 pounds)
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves
- 1 tablespoon fresh sage, chopped
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 lemon, zested and juiced
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 cup chicken broth
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. Prepare the Herb Butter Mixture
In a small bowl, combine softened butter, minced garlic, chopped rosemary, thyme, sage, salt, pepper, lemon zest, and lemon juice. Mix until well combined.
3. Season the Turkey Breast
Pat the turkey breast dry with paper towels. Gently loosen the skin over the turkey breast, taking care not to tear it. Spread half of the herb butter mixture under the skin, and the other half over the skin, ensuring it's evenly coated.
4. Drizzle with Olive Oil
Place the turkey breast in a roasting pan. Drizzle the olive oil over the turkey and pour the chicken broth into the bottom of the pan.
5. Roast the Turkey
Place the turkey in the preheated oven. Roast for approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). Baste occasionally with the accumulated juices using a turkey baster to keep the meat moist.
6. Rest the Turkey
Once cooked, remove the turkey breast from the oven and let it rest for 15 minutes before carving. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat.
7. Carve and Serve
Slice the turkey breast and arrange on a platter. Serve with pan drippings or your favorite gravy.
