Sweet and Savory Ginger Soy Glaze
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup sake
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons fresh ginger, finely grated
Instructions
1. Prepare the Ingredients
Gather all the ingredients and ensure the ginger is finely grated. This will ensure a smooth consistency in the glaze.
2. Combine Soy Sauce and Sugar
In a medium-sized saucepan, add the 1/2 cup of low-sodium soy sauce and 1/4 cup of sugar. Stir the mixture gently over medium heat until the sugar dissolves completely. This should take about PT3M (3 minutes).
3. Add the Sake & Rice Vinegar
Pour in the 1/4 cup of sake and 2 tablespoons of rice vinegar. Stir well to combine, increasing the liquid's depth of flavor. Allow the mixture to come to a gentle simmer. This should take about PT2M (2 minutes).
4. Incorporate Ginger & Simmer
Stir in the freshly grated ginger. Let the mixture simmer on low heat, allowing the flavors to meld. Continue simmering for PT5M (5 minutes) or until the sauce thickens slightly.
5. Cool the Glaze
Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the glaze cool. It will thicken further as it cools. Serve as a glaze over your favorite proteins or vegetables for a delicious dinner enhancement.
