Sweet and Tangy Pineapple Barbecue Sauce
Ingredients
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 1/2 cup pineapple juice
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon Pickapepper sauce
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon mustard powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon Aleppo pepper
- 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Instructions
1. Prepare Ingredients
Begin by gathering and measuring all your ingredients to ensure a smooth cooking process.
2. Combine Primary Ingredients
In a medium saucepan, combine the ketchup, brown sugar, molasses, and pineapple juice. Stir well to blend the base ingredients thoroughly.
3. Add Sauces and Vinegar
Add the Worcestershire sauce, Pickapepper sauce, and apple cider vinegar to the saucepan. Stir continuously over medium heat to ensure even mixing.
4. Spice Mixture
Gradually add the smoked paprika, mustard powder, garlic powder, onion powder, ground turmeric, sea salt, black pepper, Aleppo pepper, and cayenne pepper. Stir well after each addition to incorporate the spices evenly.
5. Simmer and Thicken
Allow the mixture to come to a gentle simmer. Reduce the heat to low and continue cooking for PT20M (20 minutes), stirring occasionally. This allows the flavors to meld together and the sauce to thicken.
6. Taste and Adjust
Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning as needed. You can add more salt or pepper based on preference. For additional heat, increase the cayenne pepper sparingly.
7. Cool and Store
Once the sauce has thickened to your liking, remove it from the heat. Allow it to cool slightly before transferring to an airtight container. Refrigerate until ready to use.
