Sweet Cinnamon Sugar Tortilla Bites
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 4 flour tortillas (approximately 8 inches in diameter)
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
Instructions
1. Prepare the Cinnamon Sugar Mixture:
In a small bowl, combine 1/2 cup of brown sugar with 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon. Stir until the mixture is uniform in color and set aside.
2. Melt the Butter:
In a small saucepan over low heat, melt 1/4 cup of unsalted butter. Monitor the butter closely to avoid browning. Once melted, remove from heat.
3. Heat the Pan:
Preheat a medium-sized non-stick skillet over medium heat, allowing it to reach an even temperature.
4. Prepare the Tortillas:
Using a brush, apply a thin layer of melted butter onto both sides of a flour tortilla. Evenly sprinkle about 2 tablespoons of the cinnamon sugar mixture onto one side of the tortilla.
5. Pan Fry the Tortilla:
Place the tortilla, sugar side down, into the preheated skillet. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the sugar begins to caramelize and the tortilla becomes golden and crisp.
6. Flip and Cook:
Carefully flip the tortilla and cook the other side for an additional 1-2 minutes, ensuring it is evenly browned and crispy.
7. Repeat:
Repeat steps 4-6 with the remaining tortillas, adding more butter to the skillet as necessary to prevent sticking.
8. Serve:
Once all tortillas are cooked, remove them from the skillet and allow them to cool slightly on a wire rack. Cut each tortilla into bite-sized wedges and serve warm.
