Tantalizing Tuna and Cheese Melt with Zesty Caper Dressing
Ingredients
- 2 cans tuna (5 oz each), drained
- 1 lemon, zested and juiced
- 2 tablespoons capers, drained and rinsed
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 4 slices crusty bread
- 4 oz Gruyère cheese, sliced
- 4 oz cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
1. Prepare the Tuna Mixture
In a medium bowl, combine the drained tuna, lemon zest, lemon juice, capers, Dijon mustard, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated.
2. Assemble the Sandwiches
Lay the bread slices on a baking sheet. Evenly distribute the tuna mixture over each slice of bread. Place slices of Gruyère cheese on top of the tuna mixture and sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese.
3. Preheat the Broiler
Set your oven's broiler to high and let it preheat for a couple of minutes. Ensure the oven rack is positioned about 6 inches from the broiler.
4. Broil the Sandwiches
Place the baking sheet under the broiler and broil for 3-5 minutes or until the cheese melts and turns a golden brown. Keep a close eye to prevent burning.
5. Serve and Enjoy
Once cheese has melted and begins to bubble, remove the baking sheet from the oven. Let the sandwiches cool for a minute before serving. Enjoy your zesty and cheesy creation!
