Ultimate Charcoal-Grilled Classic Cheeseburger
Ingredients
- 4 beef patties (6 oz each)
- 4 slices American cheese
- 4 burger buns
- 4 leaves of lettuce
- 1 large tomato, sliced
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 12 slices pickles
- 4 tablespoons ketchup
- 4 teaspoons mustard
- 4 tablespoons mayonnaise
- Salt, to taste
- Pepper, to taste
Instructions
1. Prepare the Charcoal Grill
Begin by preheating your charcoal grill to medium-high heat. This usually takes about 15 minutes for the coals to be ready.
2. Season the Beef Patties
Take the beef patties and evenly season both sides with salt and pepper.
3. Grill the Patties
Place the seasoned beef patties on the grill. Cook each side for approximately 4 to 5 minutes. During the last minute of grilling, place a slice of American cheese on each patty to melt.
4. Toast the Buns
While the patties are cooking, place the burger buns cut side down on the grill. Toast them for about 1 to 2 minutes until golden and slightly crispy.
5. Prepare the Burger
Start by spreading 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Add a leaf of lettuce and a slice of tomato.
6. Add Grilled Patty
Place the grilled beef patty with melted cheese on top of the tomato slice.
7. Layer with Onion and Pickles
Add a few onion slices and 3 slices of pickles on top of each cheese-covered patty.
8. Finish with Sauces
Drizzle 1 tablespoon of ketchup and 1 teaspoon of mustard on the top half of the bun.
9. Assemble and Serve
Place the top bun over the completed stack, pressing gently. Serve immediately while hot and enjoy!
