Ultimate Homemade Sourdough Crackers
Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup semolina flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/3 cup active sourdough starter
- 3 tablespoons water
Instructions
1. Prepare the Dough:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, semolina flour, and salt. Mix well. Add the active sourdough starter and water to the dry ingredients, stirring until a rough dough forms.
2. Knead the Dough:
Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Knead for approximately 5 minutes until the dough becomes smooth and elastic.
3. Rest the Dough:
Cover the dough with a clean kitchen towel and allow it to rest for 30 minutes.
4. Preheat the Oven:
While the dough is resting, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
5. Roll Out the Dough:
Once rested, divide the dough into two portions. Roll each portion out on a floured surface until the dough is paper-thin. The thinner the dough, the crispier the crackers will be.
6. Cut and Transfer:
Use a sharp knife or pizza cutter to cut the rolled-out dough into 2-inch squares. Transfer the squares to a parchment-lined baking sheet, being careful not to overlap.
7. Bake the Crackers:
Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, flip each cracker, and then bake for another 5 minutes until they are golden brown and crisp.
8. Cool and Serve:
Allow the crackers to cool on a wire rack. Once completely cooled, they are ready to serve. Enjoy these light and crunchy sourdough crackers as a perfect snack.
