Ultimate Slow Cooker Pulled Pork Sandwiches with Tangy Coleslaw
Ingredients
- 4 pounds pork shoulder
- 1 cup BBQ sauce
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 8 hamburger buns
- 4 cups prepared coleslaw
Instructions
1. Prepare the Pork:
Trim any excess fat from the pork shoulder. Pat it dry with paper towels.
2. Season the Pork:
In a small bowl, mix together the garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Rub this spice mix evenly over the entire surface of the pork shoulder.
3. Assemble the Slow Cooker:
Place the seasoned pork shoulder into the slow cooker. Add the BBQ sauce, apple cider vinegar, and brown sugar over the top of the pork.
4. Cook the Pork:
Cover and cook on a low setting for 8 hours (PT8H), or until the pork is tender and easily pulls apart with a fork.
5. Shred the Pork:
Once cooked, carefully remove the pork from the slow cooker and place it on a cutting board. Use two forks to shred the pork into bite-sized pieces.
6. Combine Shredded Pork with Sauce:
Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker, mixing it thoroughly with the sauce to ensure every piece is coated in flavor.
7. Prepare for Serving:
Toast the hamburger buns lightly on a skillet or toaster until they’re slightly crisp and golden.
8. Assemble the Sandwiches:
Place a generous serving of pulled pork onto the bottom half of each bun. Top with a spoonful of prepared coleslaw. Cover with the bun tops and serve immediately.
