Velvety Cream Milk Panna Cotta
Ingredients
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 packet (0.25 oz) unflavored gelatin
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- Fresh berries, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
1. Prepare the Gelatin Mixture:
- In a small bowl, sprinkle the gelatin over 1/4 cup of the whole milk.
- Let it sit for about 5 minutes until the gelatin softens.
2. Heat Cream and Milk:
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the remaining whole milk, heavy cream, and granulated sugar.
- Stir occasionally, heating the mixture until the sugar is completely dissolved and the mixture is steaming hot (do not bring to a boil), about 5-7 minutes.
3. Incorporate Gelatin into the Hot Mixture:
- Remove the saucepan from the heat.
- Add the softened gelatin mixture to the hot cream mixture, whisking continuously until the gelatin fully dissolves.
4. Add Flavor:
- Stir in the vanilla extract.
5. Pour and Chill:
- Divide the mixture evenly among four ramekins or dessert glasses.
- Allow the ramekins to cool to room temperature.
- Cover each ramekin with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or until the panna cotta is set and firm.
6. Serve:
- Once set, you can unmold the panna cotta onto plates or serve directly in the ramekins.
- Garnish with fresh berries if desired, and serve chilled.
