Ingredients
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk

Instructions
1. Prepare the Custard Base
In a medium-sized saucepan, combine the heavy cream, whole milk, and granulated sugar. Stir gently over medium heat until the sugar has completely dissolved, for about PT5M (5 minutes).
2. Infuse with Flavor
Reduce the heat to low. Add the pure vanilla extract and a pinch of salt. Adjust the heat so the mixture is barely simmering.
3. Incorporate Color
Slowly add the red food coloring, stirring constantly. Add just enough to achieve a pastel pink hue, similar to the iconic circus animal cookies.
4. Create the Custard Consistency
Maintain the low heat, stirring occasionally, until the mixture thickens slightly, about an additional PT10M (10 minutes). The custard should coat the back of a spoon.
5. Add the Cookies
Once you reach the desired consistency, gently stir in the crushed circus animal cookies. They will absorb some of the custard, enhancing the flavor and texture.
6. Chill and Set
Remove the saucepan from heat. Pour the mixture into a heat-resistant container. Allow it to cool to room temperature for PT15M (15 minutes), then cover and refrigerate for at least PT2H (2 hours) to let the custard set completely.
