Zen Morning Matcha Latte
Ingredients
- 2 teaspoons matcha powder
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
- 1 cup ice cubes
- 2 tablespoons sweetener (sugar, honey, or a sugar alternative)
Instructions
1. Prepare Matcha Base:
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine 2 teaspoons of matcha powder with 1 cup of water.
- Whisk continuously until the matcha is fully dissolved and the mixture is smooth.
- Bring the matcha mixture to a gentle simmer. Do not let it boil. Once simmering, remove from heat immediately.
2. Sweeten the Matcha:
- Add 2 tablespoons of your preferred sweetener to the hot matcha. Stir until the sweetener is completely dissolved.
- Taste and adjust sweetness as desired.
3. Prepare the Milk:
- In another saucepan, heat 1 cup of milk over medium heat until steaming, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
- Remove from heat just before it begins to simmer, ensuring it does not form a skin on the surface.
4. Combine for a Creamy Latte:
- Fill a glass or cup with 1 cup of ice cubes.
- Pour the sweetened matcha over the ice, allowing it to cool slightly.
- Gently pour the steamed milk over the matcha and ice. Stir to combine well.
5. Serve and Enjoy:
- Optionally, dust a small pinch of matcha powder over the top for garnish.
- Serve immediately with a straw or spoon for stirring as the ice melts.
